Lucas Studios School of Art

     Since 1987, Mr. Lucas has been perfecting as series of classes that have proven to be 100% effective.  Everyone in these classes that attend and complete practive assignments have learned to draw and paint.  Over 25 adults students have made the step into the professional realm.  Over 50 young students hav received full scholarships based on their education from Lucas Studios.
     Lucas offers a four part series that will bring you to a new level in your art.  Each class is nine weeks and are pre-requisite to the next levels.
     Part 1 - The first part is beginning drawing, although it should be called beginning advanced drawing.  It is designed to teach you the correct way to draw.  This is an educational based program.  Meaning, we will not just give you something to draw and ask you to do what you already know how to do.  Each class will teach a specific skill.  Classes are fun and exciting and appropriate for all ages and all levels.

     Part 2 - In this class, we study shading and color.  I teach you to see the difference in value and capture it in a number of shading techniques.  We then study color theory and put these theories to use through layering in colored pencils.

     Part 3 - This class is beginning painting.  The student chooses between water color, acryllic or oils to study painting techniques.  This is a learn by doing class.  Each student will complete one painting in this nine weeks and learn the specific skills required to complete that painting.

     Part 4 - This class is called Studio or advanced art.  Students are allowed to choose subject and medium and work independently from project to project.  At this level, I consider myself more an art coach than an art teacher.  Although each class at level 4 is nine weeks, students can maintain a level 4 status for an indefinite period of time, growing independently according to each students own abilities.

     Classes are divided according to age level.  We have classes for young students, 5 to 8 years of age; classes for students 9 to 12 years of age; and classes for teens and adults.  Youth classes are $150.00 per quarter, adults are $200.00 per quarter.  Schedules change from quarter to quarter according to the number of students re-taking from previous quarter.  Classes start the first week of January, first week of March, second week of May, third week of July, third week of October.  
     Classes are offered week days at lunch, evenings as well as Saturday mornings.  Please call for exact schedule and availability.
